Happy Ever After - Rehoming Love Stories
Roxy’s Story
Roxy initially came to Assisi from the council pound so we
had no idea what her life had been like before, but she was
very underweight, in fact she was so thin you could see
her ribs which was so upsetting, Roxy soon came around
and her sweet personality started to emerge. However,
she had also developed a few behavioural issues and we
were concerned that this would be something that people
wouldn’t want to deal with.
When Gareth and Lauren came to meet her, we knew this
was love! They worked so hard with Roxy, coming to see
looking for a good match. We had set our hearts on a
boxer dog, and whilst our preference was to adopt from a
sanctuary, we knew it could take a long time for a boxer to
appear but, just like magic, when we started looking, Roxy
was posted on the Assisi Facebook page as needing a new
home.
We immediately arranged to visit her the next day at the
sanctuary. However, quite a few other people had seen her
appeal so when we arrived on the Saturday morning two
families had put their name down for her already. As Roxy
had been returned to Assisi a couple of times already, they
allowed us to be placed as second reserve for her, but this
put us 3rd in line so we weren’t holding out much hope. I
was gutted at the thought of not being able to adopt her as
I had formed such an instant bond with her from the short
time we had spent together.
her multiple times, and showed us they wanted to give her
the best life. They were totally committed to help her work
through her issues and it has paid off big time! Roxy is
now living exactly how she should, loved, cared for, happy,
danger free. She has given her new humans such joy really
fitting into their home so well and she’s even been the
beautiful guest of honour at her humans’ wedding! What a
happy ever after for all!
Not every dog you get will be perfect but with time and
patience they can be your type of perfect.
